My Travel History

Growing up, I wasn't extremely well travelled. I had one overseas trip with my parents at the age of 5, across the pond to New Zealand. Most of our travels were down to the state of Tasmania to visit family. I'm not really sure where my interest in travel stemmed from, but as I got older I knew that I was destined to travel and when I got my first part time job whilst studying at university, I started to put money away from each pay cycle toward my trip, whenever it might be.

In 2008 I spend almost five months backpacking abroad - most of the time was spent in Europe, with a stopover in the United States on the way and a stop in Singapore on the way home. I managed to visit fifteen countries in that time period. I spent the majority of that time backpacking alone; bar a few weeks in two segments of the trip where my journey overlapped with that of a colleague from home.

From the moment I came home, I began saving again for my next journey overseas, which was set into play in 2010. I spent two months travelling around North America, taking advantage of a mixture of my independence as well as staying with some friends. In that time, I managed to visit twelve of the United States of America, as well as two states of Canada.

I am not naive to the lack of depth of my travels - I'd yet to scrape the surface of this planet we call Earth. All I can do is continue to explore and to make the most of the opportunities that arise.
