Official Blog and Social Media Launch

It's now Sunday April 1st, 2012 in almost every time zone around the world. Which means that in almost every time zone around the world, I find myself being able to say 'this month.' This month, I embark overseas for my third major international trip. In less than three weeks I'll be taking off in a jet plane, leaving ordinary life and catapulting into the dynamic and unpredictable world of living out of a backpack for weeks and weeks on end.

I've spent the last month or so gradually making some improvements to this blog, with the assistance of my dear friend Amy (who has her own wonderful blog Wardrobe Staples) as my technical and artistic guru. More changes may come over the coming weeks as tweaks are made in the lead up to my journey, however on the whole the structure is set and what lies in front of me is a blank page, a blank page to begin to fill with my musings, my thoughts and the tales of my journey.

I'm really open to constructive criticism, to feedback, to suggestions. This blog will be a place for my friends, family and loved ones to follow the journey which I am embarking upon with my upcoming set of travels, and also will be a place for me to reflect upon my learnings, share my knowledge and engage with other people in the travel community.

I'm currently at a place in my life where I am wanting to experiment with this industry, to explore and see whether this is a set of passions (travelling and writing) which I could channel into a realistic career, or whether they both sit in a place as being revered hobbies. I'm not sure which way it will go; but I know that if I don't find out, I'll always wonder, and I won't want to live a life wondering if this could have been more.

On that note - time to start writing!
